The no confidence motion against External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris is to be taken up in the House on October 7.
The no confidence motion against the Minister was put forward by the UNP.
Chief Government Whip and Minister Dinesh Gunawardena told the media that the motion will be taken up on October 7 and voting on the no confidence motion will also take place on the same day.
The no confidence motion was handed over to Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa by UNP MPs John Amarathunga, Lakshman Kiriella and Ravi Karunanayake.
The UNP has cited the Minister’s inaction on retaining the EU’s GSP Plus trade concession as one of the main reasons for handing in the no confidence motion.
