A Dengue control week has been announced. It is from the 7th to the 13th of next month. Acting Health Secretary Dr. P.G. Mahipala said the aim is to find solutions to a possible spread of the disease with the rain experienced at present.
He said that the Health Ministry with the involvement of other relevant institutions has planned a programme to monitor the situation and eradicate the Dengue menace.
They will further strengthen the programmes that are already being implemented. There are many programmes which are implemented at the provincial, district, regional and rural levels to educate the public in this respect.
He pointed out that a very strong programme is to be launched which will include shramadana campaign and the search of home gardens.
Sri Lanka Army will join hands with the Health Ministry on their Dengue awareness programmes, house inspection and other projects during the dengue week
