The bail application submitted by Senaka Silva, who served as Secretary of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka, has been rejected.
The Attorney General intimated to the High Court that Senaka is a leading criminal. The Attorney General made this intimation to Courts following the bail application submitted by the accused who is now in remand custody.
The Attorney General said Senaka Silva had been imposed a three year prison term after being convicted in a robbery in the past. The State Counsel had also informed the Courts that he is wanted in Belgium for a financial fraud amounting to 70 million rupees.
During the last fear psychosis period, he had provided a house to JVP leader Rohana Wijeweera. He has such a criminal history. As such, the Attorney General had informed the High Court that he is strongly against granting bail to him.
