Several areas are threatened with floods due to the torrential rains.
According to the Disaster Management Centre, the flood situation in the Galle District is easing. Four Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the District were flooded. The water level of Kalawewa has also increased and is reported to have reached the spill level.
The Disaster Management Centre said that the water level of Badulu Oya is also rising and the people in the environs have been cautioned to be on alert. With the rising water level of Kala Oya, transport on the Puttalam-Mannar road is obstructed.
Three Sluice Gates of the Rajangana Reservoir had been opened. Transport at several places along the Kandy-Nuwara Eliya road has also been impacted due to obstructions caused by fallen stones.
