The Railway Technologists Union (RTU) has warned of trade union action if the government fails to address their grievances that have been submitted as 10 demands to the Transport Ministry.
The RTU has warned of resorting trade union action if there was no positive outcome from the discussions to be held with Transport Minister Kumara Welgama.
RTU Chief Secretary M.A. Ratnasiri told the media that the union said their demands had not been granted for the past 13 years.
According to Ratnasiri, the Railway Department will be affected as the technologists provide the necessary backup for train services.
He said while the sector faced many issues, the technologists have not been paid the salary increment under clauses MT-1 and MT-2 of the salaries commission report.
