The Lexington County Sheriffs Department has charged five youths two 12-year-olds, a 14-year-old, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old are charged in connection with the theft of money, jewelry, cellular telephones and other electronic devices from the visiting teams locker room at Irmo High School during a football game.
The thefts happened during the Sept. 3 game between Irmo High and Fort Dorchester High School.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives recommended the 11th Judicial Circuit Solicitors Office prosecute the two 12-year-old boys and the 14-year-old boy in family court in Lexington County on a charge of third-degree burglary. Detectives recommended that the Solicitors Office prosecute the 16-year-old boy in family court in Lexington County on a charge of receiving stolen goods. The four boys are not being identified because of their age.
Datwan Lontrai Green, 17, of 5324 Bush River Road, Apartment K-4, Columbia, is charged with receiving stolen goods, Metts said. Green was released from the Lexington County Detention Center on Sept. 17 on a personal recognizance bond. Green is being charged as an adult because he is 17.
The two 12-year-old boys and 14-year-old boy entered the locker room, which had been left unlocked, and stole money, jewelry, cellular telephones and other electronic devices that belonged to Fort Dorchester High football players, Metts said. The thefts occurred during the game.
