The Ceylon Electricity Board is modernizing outdated power plants.
The Ceylon has spent over 12.5 billion rupees on these activities in the last two years. The purpose of this exercise is increase the capacity of power generation at the Wimalasurendra, New Lakshapana, Ukuwela and old Lakshapana Plants. The CEB said their programmehas been highly successful. The old power plants add more than 200 megawatts of electricity to the National grid.
