President assures children will not be allowed to bow down before the world

President Rajapaksa has pointed out that it is the bounden epochal duty of all elders to open the path for the Sri Lankan child generation to be the most powerful nation which will not bow down before any other force in the world.

In a message to mark Universal Children’s Day, the President remarked that an opportunity has dawned today to celebrate the Day with unprecedented pride. That is because the country has started marching towards development with the dawn of peace. Creation of a perfect child generation is the first foundation towards a country’s bright future. The President noted that the Government which has properly identified that responsibility has taken action as never before to ensure physical, mental, educational and personality development and security and protection to the unborn child from birth until he becomes an elder.

The Prime Minister in his message said it is the duty of everyone to ensure that the children get the necessary protection from all dangers, obtain good advice and learn good values. In connection, he said he would also like to make it a point to express his heartiest satisfaction regarding the projects and programmes already implemented by the Ministries and Departments to brighten the future of the under-privileged children. He pointed out that the present Government has given prominence to this cause more than any other government in the history of Sri Lanka.
