The North is experiencing vast development. Infrastructure is being upgraded to facilitate the families who have been resettled.
Many civilians who had evacuated Iranamadu due to LTTE terrorism have returned to their village. The Government is mediating in meeting all their needs and rebuilding the infrastructure. Initial work to help them re-cultivate agricultural land which had been neglected for a long period is now in progress. Families who have resettled in the Mullangavil area are reaping a good harvest of vegetables and fruits. In addition, fisher families are also successfully engaged in fishing. Educational activities have resumed at the Mullangavil Maha Vidyalaya on behalf of children of resettled families. These children are enthusiastically attending schools with the intention of stepping into a better future with peace and freedom which they had hitherto not enjoyed.
