“Sri Lanka, My Love” is a photographic exhibition by Chinese lady journalist Liu Yongqiu. It kicked off in capital Colombo last evening.
The opening took place under the patronage of Minister Basil Rajapksa and Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Yang Xiuping. The exhibition is the first by a Chinese journalist. It features 60 photos on Sri Lanka’s natural beauty, rich culture, major events and its people.
Mr. Rajapaksa said the photos are very special because they show Sri Lanka in the eyes of foreigners. He said they are used to see photos of Sri Lanka taken by local photographers, but it is very rare to see Sri Lanka from the lens of foreigners, especially from the journalist of a friendly country. He said that from her photos, they see a new Sri Lanka. The Minister pointed out that these photos are very useful in promoting Sri Lanka’s tourism in the new peace era.
Chinese Ambassador Yang Xiuping said this is the first photo exhibition by a Chinese correspondent held in Sri Lanka, and we are quite proud of it.
