A number of Bo-saplings are being planted around the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura.
The aim of planting the saplings is to protect the Sri Mahabodhi from heavy rains and strong winds. The Chief Incumbent of the Atamastana, the Ven. Pallegama Sirinivasa thera said that the accompanying trees are being planted as a protective cover for the Sri Maha Bodhi. The first Bo-sapling was planted yesterday by the Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya.
