The nominees hoping to lead South Carolina's public schools are debating live on statewide TV.
Democrat Frank Holleman and Republican Mick Zais will debate at 7 p.m. Monday on South Carolina Educational Television. The candidates debated two weeks ago on ETV Radio.
Zais supports using tax credits to help parents send their children to private school, while Holleman opposes the idea. Holleman advocates expanding 4-year-old kindergarten, which Zais opposes.
Zais is the former president of Newberry College, a private Christian school. He retired from the U.S. Army in 2000.
Holleman is a Greenville attorney. He was chief of staff and deputy U.S. secretary of education under former Gov. Dick Riley, during the Clinton administration.
