Govt dispels false media report

The Sri Lankan Government dispelled a newspaper report in the Kingdom Monday that ’Saudi Arabia slaps ban on recruitment from Sri Lanka’. Reacting to the news item published in an English daily in the Kingdom, Sri Lankan Ambassador Ahmed A Jawad told the Daily News that there is absolutely no truth in the statement. " We have no official information from the government of Saudi Arabia on this issue," the envoy said, adding that there were no outstanding issues between the two parties on this subject."
Former Chairman of the Saudi Arabian National Recruitment Committee (SANARCOM), Waleed Al-Sweidan who is currently its official representative at the Ministry of Labour told the Daily News that it is media speculation. "We have had no news about this ban and the recruitment flow from Colombo goes uninterrupted," Sweidan stressed.
