President Mahinda Rajapaksa told State authorities yesterday to ensure facilities to the public to use their own language in official transactions with Government departments.
President Rajap-aksa said language should not be a barrier to the public when seeking assistance from Government authorities. The President was addressing State officials and politicians during the Eastern province development review meeting in Trincomalee yesterday.
President Rajapaksa said it was brought to his notice that the language barrier was prevalent in the East where all three communities lived in equal proportions.
