A 14-year-old Socastee High School student will return to court today for a detention hearing before a Family Court judge, one day after authorities released 911 calls made about the incident.
The teen has been held at the state Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia since he was taken into custody after the Sept. 21 incident. He has been charged as a juvenile with attempted murder; possession, threatened or attempted use of weapon of mass destruction for act of terrorism; and possession of a destructive device.
The charges stem from an incident in which shots were fired at a police officer at the school and two pipe bombs were found at the school.
The initial call to 911 was made by an office staff member at the school about 2 p.m. that day.
