Cuba has appreciated the appeal made by President Rajapaksa to World leaders to relax international sanctions imposed on the country.
Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka Nirsia Castro expressing views at a conference organized in Colombo under the patronage of Minister Wimal Weerawansa on the current situation in Cuba said that the Sri Lankan President had made a fervent appeal from World leaders addressing the UN General Assembly sessions to relax sanctions imposed on her country. What the Sri Lankan leader said was that all countries should be sensitive on Cuba. Leaders of 33 countries agreed with the opinion expressed by President Rajapaksa. The Cuban diplomat further said that the Cuban Government and the people were expressing their gratitude to the Sri Lankan President with regard to arraying the world to build a better future for Cuba.
