Onus is on teachers to mould fully fledged persons

Chancellor of the Kelaniya University the Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusala Dhamma thera has pointed out that the onus is on teachers to mould a fully fledged human being through knowledge, concepts and skills.

The main objective of education is to mould a fully fledged person. The child should be armed with knowledge. His concepts should be filled. In addition his skills should be developed. It is thereafter that a fully fledged person can be moulded. In this respect, the teacher has to dedicate his services. He should possess the required knowledge, concepts and skills. These should be imparted to the children.

The Chancellor was speaking at a ceremony organized to pay tribute to the Dhamma teachers of the Nivitigala Sasanarakshaka Bala Mandalaya. 65 teachers who imparted Dhamma Education to children for more than 10 years were honoured. The event was held at the National School Auditorium in Kuruwita.
