Weightlifting silver for Vidanage

The golden boy from Polonnaruwa, the weightlifting hero of our era, the 1996 Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, Chinthana Geethal Vidanage did Mother Lanka proud winning the first Silver Medal at the Nineteenth Edition of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi yesterday.
The iron man who competed in the mens weightlifting 69 kg category at the Jawaharlal Nehru Weightlifting complex, lifted 134 kg in the clean and jerk lift in his second attempt, but failed in his third attempt which he tried 137 kilogrammes.
Then he successfully lifted 174 kgs to finish second with a new Sri Lanka record of 308 kgs.
Chinthana lowered the previous Games record for the clean and jerk, at the end of his third attempt with the 174 kgs but soon, the Gold medallist Indian Ravi Kumar went passed him with a good lift 175 kgs to make his total 321 kgs.
Indian Ravi Kumar lifted 146 kilogrammes (snatch) and 175 (clean and jerk) and better the previous Commonwealth Games record in front of a massive roar which came from a massive number of spectators who were there to support him.
