The BTI Bacteria imported from Cuba is now being used in the dengue eradication programme, with the commencement of the Dengue Control Week today
The Dengue Control Week will be held until the 13th of this month. It is being organized countrywide as a precautionary measure. The Dengue Control Week kicked off under the patronage of Minister Maithripala Sirisena at Bothalaapitiya, in Gampola. 260,000 US Dollars has been spent on the import of 10,000 units of the BTI bacteria. Minister Sirisena said that after being utilized on a trial basis, the bacteria will be used for the control of dengue, based on its success.
