A proposal on the security of Parliamentarian Jayalath Jayawardena submitted to the Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Geneva has been revoked.
Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said that there was a Resolution on Jayalath Jayawardena on the agenda. It had referred to the injustice caused to him by not providing adequate security. However, the Minister noted that they pointed out to the Commission that he cannot be given any particular preference, since the LTTE problem was over. The Parliamentarian had gone to Courts seeking additional security saying that there were threats to him from the LTTE. The Minister added that the Committee presented a proposal to the Sessions after they had made submissions that the Parliamentarians Resolution would be withdrawn.
