Strike call given by the Government Pharmacists Association has been called off.
The Pharmacists Association said that the strike has been halted after the Provincial Governor G.A. Chandrasiri decided to remove unqualified pharmacists from the hospitals in the Northern Province. The Governor has taken measures to cancel the gazette notification issued by the Northern Provincial Health Ministry on training para–medical staff including pharmacists, lab technicians and physio-therapists. Governor G.A. Chandrasiri said that the decision was made after considering the risk posed by the drugs issued by untrained persons to the lives of the patients.
