Sri Lanka entered the Guinness book of records today (09) for the world’s largest Tea cup.
The tea cup of 1000 gallons was made at the BRC grounds today. Thus the record for the largest tea cup of 660 gallons of tea by Health Centre in Fort Scott, Kansas, USA has been broken. Four thousand litres of water and 875 kilograms of Viva were used in this process. In addition 160 kilograms of sugar and 64 kilograms of tea were also used. Representatives of the Guinness Committee from England were present. They confirmed that it was the world’s largest cup of tea. Viva Company was associated with Sri Lanka’s most loved beverage. The record is a tribute to the thousands of tea consumers in the country who consume their tea with malt. ITN was the media sponsor.
