The dredging work of the Magampura International harbour will take place after it’s filled with water.
Sand is currently being removed from a 300 metre stretch at the entrance to the harbour. The strip of land of the Matara- Kataragama main road that separated the harbour from the Indian Ocean was blown up yesterday. 300 metres of land near the 235th kilo metre post is now being removed. With that the Magampura harbour is connected with the Ocean. The Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Ashok K. kantha arrived at the location to view the massive project today. The general public will be permitted to visit the location after 15th of this month.
