The responsibility of creating a moral society at a time when the country is experiencing steady development lies with the Maha Sangha.
The President called upon the Maha Sangha to offer advice and guide them at all times. The President said that the Maha Sangha should intervene in transforming the way of thinking. He said that children should be brought up to respect parents, elders and the society. He said that they have to march forward to win the challenges posed by world. For this task the country and the children should be prepared.
The President expressed this view at a function held at the Rankoth Vehera in Panadura to mark the 200th anniversary of the temple. The President also laid the foundation stone for a 3 storied building. A commemorative stamp was also issued. The President offered ‘Prasada Pooja‘ to the Chief Incumbent of the temple Prof. Ven. Kahapola Sugatharatana thera. Members of the Maha sangha, Parliamentarians and Ministers were present on the occasion.
