President Rajapaksa says the Maha Sangha can render yeoman service to build a society with sound moral values. He requested the Maha Sangha to constantly advice children to send them on the correct path.
The president mentioned this at a ceremony at Rankoth Viharea in Panadura. He pointed out that children could be guided on the correct path by teaching them religious values. He further said that Poya Days have been declared as a Government holiday with the intention of providing an opportunity to engage in religious observances. President Rajapaksa laid the foundation stone for the proposed three storied building at the temple. A commemorative stamp was issued to mark the 200th anniversary of the temple. Chief incumbent of the Rankoth Vihare the Ven. Prof. Kahapola Sugatharathana thera and a distinguished gathering were present at the ceremony.
