A very rare Indo-Lanka Naval Exercise has been staged. Four Indian naval ships have arrived in Sri Lanka ports this morning as a part of a joint training program with Sri Lanka Navy.
It is the first time that a large Indian sailing vessel of the Sri Lanka Navy arrived in the island to impart training to many Sri Lankan sailors. The practical sea training on board these ships was held for cadet officers, midshipmen and direct entry officers who are under training at the Trincomalee Naval and Maritime Academy.
The four vessels reached Colombo today providing training to the Sri Lankan naval ratings. The Indian vessels imparted significant know-how to the Sri Lankans, who will not be able get such experience onboard local vessels.
The Indian Naval officer cadets during their will visit the Naval and Maritime Academy and also the Sri Lanka Military Academy and the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy.
