The court has ordered to remand 17 LTTE suspects who are alleged to have conspired to assassinate the President and his family members, until advice is received from the Attorney General.
The 17 suspects were taken into custody on information received by the state intelligence unit. The suspects were produced before the court by the CID along with a report. The suspects are alleged to have been roaming in the city planning the assassinations.
The report of the CID presented to the Colombo Magistrate’s Court says that advice is being sought from the Attorney General to file charges against them. Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli ordered the suspects to be remanded until 19th of next month.
