The Ministers of Posts and Telecommunications has said that Post Offices will not be closed on Saturdays.
Minister Jeevan Kumaratunge made this revelation during a meeting with Postal Trade Union leaders. The Postal Department is dedicated towards providing an efficient and productive service to the public. The Minister said that it was during such a juncture that baseless and unfounded rumours were being spread throughout the country. The Post should be converted into a viable institution maintaining a six-day roster. The Minister announced that overtime will not be curtailed sans a streamlined inquiry. Deputy Minister Duminda Dissanayake also expressed his views.
