President will take oaths opposite Presidential Secretariat

President Rajapaksa will be sworn-in for his second term as the President on the 19th of November. Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, who is heading the President’s Anniversary Committee said the Government today decided that the ceremony would be held near the Old Parliament at Galle Face Green.

The Minister said that proposals on various venues were received. However, as the head of the relevant Committee he had to decide on the venue of the ceremony. Accordingly, it was decided to hold this function opposite the building where the Presidential Secretariat is now housed. November 19th will be a day when the foundation would be laid to embark on a journey to open a new chapter of the country. Minister Wickremanayake pointed out that the aim of this journey was to effect development in every sector, which could be seen and felt by everyone.

Addressing a function at Horana today, the Minister said that the era in which the dividends of development would trickle down to the masses would begin on the 19th of next month. The Kalutara District main ploughing ceremony for the Maha season was held at the Wewala paddy fields in Horana, under the auspices of the Minister. Minister Wickremanayake emphasized that everyone should join hands and trek towards the era making the motherland a Miracle through development.
