A special meeting is being held between the Sri Lankan President and the Indian Prime Minister.
A meeting between President Mahinda Rajapaksa who arrived in India to participate in the concluding ceremony of the Commonwealth games and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was scheduled for this morning. They are to focus on the progress of the resettlement and the development process. The Indian Prime Minister will also host a special luncheon in honour of the Sri Lankan President.
Meanwhile External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris met his Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna yesterday. Following the talks on the development process in the North the Indian Foreign Minister expressed his desire to visit Sri Lanka to witness the progress in development.
Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao, Foreign Secretary Romesh Jayasinghe and the High Commissioners of both countries participated in the meeting.
Meanwhile, The Presidential Media Unit said President Rajapaksa is due to meet the Sri Lankan athletes who participated in the Commonwealth Games, while in India.
