A boil water advisory has been issued for residents of the Hill Creek subdivision in Lexington County. People living on Weeping Cherry Ln, Aspen Ln, Aspen Ct, Walnut Ln, Walnut Ct, and Leslie Lock Ct are encouraged to "vigorously boil their water for at least one minute" before drinking it or using it to cook with. Any ice made with non-boiled water should not be consumed.
If you live near the affected area and experienced a drop in water pressure or interruption in service, you should also follow the boiling procedure until the advisory is lifted.
The advisory was issued after a 12 inch water main break near the corner of Lake Murray Blvd. and Nursery Rd.,because of the concern that bacteria could get into the water supply.
Questions about the advisory should be directed to the City of Columbia Water Works at 781-2181 or 733-8336.
