Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya has revealed that housing assistance extended to members of the Army will be increased up to 300 thousand rupees. Concessionary loans will also be granted to purchase three wheelers and motorbikes.
The Army Chief was speaking at a ceremony organized for the opening of the new auditorium of the Wanni 211 Brigade Head Office for the benefit of Army personnel.
The Army Commander said that it was planned to increase the loans granted to the members of the Army upto 300 thousand rupees, under the Welfare Board of directors. He added that they had also decided to grant credit on a concessionary basis to members of the Army to purchase three wheelers and motorbikes.
A pageant displaying the arts talents of the rehabilitated LTTE cadres was held in parallel to this event. The Army Commander presented certificates to those who displayed their skills. Wanni Commanding Officer Major General Kamal Gunaratne and many Army Officers were present on the occasion.
