The Sinhalese people who have arrived in Jaffna claiming the land they owned in the area prior to the conflict say that they were warmly welcomed by the people in Jaffna.
The LTTE terrorists ruined the harmony that existed between the Sinhalese, Tamil and the Muslims who lived in the area. The people belonging to all communities now have the opportunity to live freely anywhere in the country. The Sinhalese people who abandoned their land in the area say that Minister Douglas Devananda and the District Secretary accepted the documents they presented and agreed to provide them land without delay. They have temporarily sought shelter in a building belonging to the Jaffna Railway Station.
