The country needs disciplined people in order to meet its goals. The President also stressed the importance of learning two languages.
The President said that the Buddhist monks as well as the children should learn international languages when the country is marching towards progress. He said that Sinhalese, Tamil and English languages are important for us. He said that all three languages should be taught in the Pirivenas as well. The people have to march forward with the world in order to develop the country.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed this view at a meeting held with the Maha Sangha in the Southern Province. The meeting was held at the Weligama Town Hall. The President stressed that the intervention of the Maha Sangha is required to protect the children from the narcotic menace. The President said that the government is committed towards fulfilling the short comings in temples. The chief incumbents of temples in the Southern Province, Members of the Maha Sangha, Ministers and government officials participated in the occasion.
