The Ministry of Finance says that the unemployment rate in the country has been dropped significantly. It has been dropped to 5.4 percent by this year.
A report of the Finance Ministry point out that unemployment rate has been 8.8 percent in the year 2002. The Ministry says that it has been reduced due to the peaceful environment and the prevailing political stability.
It further says that growth of the tourism industry, investments and demand for Sri Lanka workers abroad have also contributed to the reduction of unemployment rate.
