The JVP today (19) said former JVP MP and DNA member Lakshman Nipunarachchi would not accept the parliamentary seat that has been offered to him after removing former Army Commander and DNA Leader Sarath Fonseka from parliament.
JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva told a press conference that the JVP would not accept the seat, as it was rightfully Fonseka’s.
The JVP contested under the DNA banner at the last general election. Nipunarachchi is the next in line in the DNA Colombo District list.
Silva said the Secretary General of parliament had asked Nipunarachchi to attend parliament and take oaths during this week’s parliamentary sessions.
He says that accepting the so-called vacant parliamentary seat will be an endorsement of the anti democratic and unjustifiable act of the government.
