A former Clemson University official has been indicted on charges of taking a computer and documents when he left the school.
Multiple media outlets reported Chalmers Eugene Troutman III has been indicted by the Greenville County grand jury on charges of grand larceny and computer crime.
Troutman had been the executive secretary of the university's board of trustees when he was fired in 2007. He sued the school in 2008, saying there was a conspiracy to have him fired because he spoke publicly about what he said was fiscal irresponsibility.
He said in his suit that cuts in state appropriations didn't justify the university's increases in tuition and fees and that trustees "hoarded" cash from tuition increases to build an $80 million fund.
A federal judge dismissed Troutman's suit this summer.
