Another group of Sri Lankan asylum seekers who attempted to flee to another country has been arrested in Indonesia.
The Gulf Times reported that this group was arrested by the Indonesian Navel Police in an Island belonging to Indonesia. This group has left Sri Lanka on a boat on 31st of August. The Indonesian Navel Police said that this group expected the reach the Christian Island. The report says that fuel, food and water were available in large amounts in the ship. Meanwhile the Canadian Government is formulating stringent rules against illegal asylum seekers. Reports say that the Canadian Minister of Immigration and Emigration will present the new laws today. Under these laws it will be difficult to enter Canada illegally and seek refugee status. The entrance of LTTE terrorists as refugees by sea has posed a serious problem for some countries.
