That massive, much-publicized alligator caught by a woman from Massachusetts early in South Carolinas alligator season was the heaviest, but not the longest, snared this year.
South Carolinas four-week alligator hunting season ended Oct. 9, and the paperwork that has to be filed by hunters is still trickling in to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources. But here are some preliminary numbers:Alligators killed:
