USGS reports magnitude-6.9 earthquake in Mexico

The U.S. Geological Survey says a strong earthquake has struck Mexico's Gulf of California. The magnitude of the quake that hit at 11:53 a.m. (1753 GMT) is calculated as 6.9.
There are no immediate reports of damage or injury. The epicenter was about 65 miles (105 kilometers) south of Los Mochis and 85 miles (140 kilometers) northeast of La Paz in Baja California.
