The economic situation of the traders at the Keppetipola Special Economic Centre has improved.
An opportunity has been created to bring the agricultural produce from remote areas with the development of roads in those areas. In addition traders from the Meegoda and Dambulla economic centres also arrive in the Keppetipola Special Economic Centre. The traders say that more than 1500 Lorries and other vehicles arrive in the economic centre daily. The government extended the market for the local agricultural produce by imposing taxes on items such as potatoes which are imported. The traders therefore say that their economic situation has improved. It has been planned to add 30 more stalls to the economic centre.
