Measures are being taken to set up a centre of training for health professionals in the Southeast Asian region in Sri Lanka.
Minister Maithreepala Sirisena who is participating in the International Conference on Climate Change and Health in Dhaka, Bangladesh held discussions with health Ministers of Southeast Asian countries yesterday. The Ministers of those countries have commended the free health service available in Sri Lanka and the special training provided for the professionals in the field. They have requested the Minister to soon launch a centre for training health personnel. Minister Maithreepala Sirisena said that the free health service prevailed in the country for 75 years has earned the highest tribute.
