British Parliamentarians who visited the Eastern Province that is re-awakening, are amazed over the development that is taking place in the region.
The UK Parliamentarians on a visit to the island toured Trincomalee. They met Eastern Province Governor Rear Admiral Mohan Wijewickrema. Their talks centred on a progress witnessed in the Eastern Province and the Government’s programmes. The British Parliamentarians were upbeat about the living standards of the resettled civilians and the development that had taken place in the region. The Governor told the visitors that job allocations in the Province were made giving priority to the ethnic basis.
Head of the British deputation Paul Murphy said positive development had taken place in the region in contrast to their visit to the region earlier. They are satisfied over these improvements. He said they appreciated the programmes the government has mooted in the Province and assured their full support to the Sri Lankan Government in the future.
