An evaluation programme for teachers

Minister Bandula Gunawardena has said that a National Teachers Evaluation Programme will be implemented from next year. The Minister made this reference at the Annual Prize Giving of the Presbyterian Girls College in Dehiwala.

The Minister said that the teachers who have not availed a single day of leave would be awarded prizes. He said that there are teachers who teach after school hours on Saturdays and Sundays. There are also schools that are open on Saturdays. He said that those are not evaluated. The Ministry will offer promotions, transfers, foreign tours, local and international training to such teachers evaluating their skills and commitment. He said that this plan will be implemented from next year to provide the due place for the teachers’ profession.
