A gang which had been pilfering electrical goods for two years has been taken into custody.
The arrest was made by the Medirigiriya Police. The group had been entering electrical shops in the night and stealing the goods. The Police arrested four suspects along with loot worth about three million rupees. During interrogation, it has been revealed that they had stolen goods from 26 shops. Among the loot recovered were refrigerators, deep freezers, electrical motors, electric saws and welding machines. The Police said that among those apprehended was a schoolboy. Many of the stolen goods had been sold to the people in the environs of Medirigiriya. The suspects were remanded for 14 days after being produced in Courts. Investigations are continuing.
