The main suspect in the attack on the Vice Chancellor of the Ruhuna University has been remanded.
Vice Chancellor Professor Susirith Mendis came under attack last Wednesday when he attempted to mediate in a clash between two groups of students. Police teams which conducted investigations into the incident apprehended the main suspect from Elpitiya. He is a second year student of the Ruhuna University. The suspect was produced before the Matara Magistrate’s Court. Thereafter, he was remanded until the 1st of next month. Police media spokesman S P Prishantha Jayakody said that they have already identified four more suspects. He pointed out that investigations are continuing for their apprehension.
