The Indian Government is providing assistance to impart training in English to teachers countrywide.
India’s Deputy High Commissioner in Sri Lanka R.K. Mishra said his Government was prepared to extend assistance for the establishment of English Teacher Training Centres covering the entire island. The Indian Government is also operating some English Teacher Training Centres in the country. Appreciating the Sri Lankan Government’s English Language Expansion programme, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner emphasized the importance of English which helps in communicating with the world. He was speaking at a workshop organized in Tulhiriya for School Principals. The workshop was organized under the guidance of Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath.
