Minister Susil Premajayantha has forecast a decline in fuel prices soon.
The Government is already taking initiatives to get down fuel from Singapore minimizing the expenditure hitherto incurred in the import of stocks. Although Singapore is not an oil producing country, it is prepared to supply fuel to Sri Lanka after refining stocks imported from other countries. Under such circumstances, the Minister is confident that fuel prices could be reduced by a considerably within the next few months. The Government’s target is to grant maximum relief to the consumers by approaching new suppliers and thereby further strengthening the economy.
