The President and the Prime Minister paid their last respects to the remains of former Minister and senior politician R.M. Dharmadasa Banda.
He was 73 years of age when he passed away following a brief illness yesterday. President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratna visited his residence at Pelawatta and paid their last respects. A number of Ministers and Parliamentarians of the opposition were also amongst those who visited his residence. The remains will be taken to Medagama in Bibile tomorrow. The last rites will take place at the R.M. Gunasekara grounds at 2.30pm on Wednesday.
