The Power and Energy Ministry today (25) said the government would not bare the costs for the damages caused by accidental fire at the Norachchole thermal power plant.
Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka has told a press conference that the Chinese construction company will pay for the damages caused due to the accidental fire.
He has said the cost of the damages is yet to be calculated and that a full investigation is currently being carried out into the fir at Norachchole.
According to Ranawaka, electricity from the Norachchole power plant will be added to the national grid in January 2011.
The first ship transporting coal to the country is scheduled to reach Sri Lanka on November 23.
